I know I’m not the only one who has noticed it. Spring is springing, or at least, taking its first tentative steps into 2025 like a shaky lamb. The sun is out, the birds are returning (I’m pretty sure I saw a swallow yesterday), and the skies are that particular shade of cobalt that turns everyone’s mouth corners up a little.
I’ve also moved house. And it’s a new town. And I have left my old role as a mobile tutor behind (though I’ve retained a couple of stalwart onliners) and I now have my weeknights back and acres of time, seemingly, in between the unpacking of boxes and taking of furniture deliveries and putting up curtains and lightshades and finding new homes for everything.
I am trying to find a new rhythm for life here, nestled in the valleys of some chunky hills, and not be too intimidated by the task of setting up practice as a Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist since the tasks of passing the incredibly rigorous course with the College of Naturopathic Medicine, and the small matter of upping sticks and moving are behind me. There’s a lot to do. It’s daunting. But I have some clear runway now and so must spool up the engines and at least start taxi-ing toward the runway, so to speak.
I’ve been told spring is the best season for new things. It certainly feels that way with its promise of newness held in the first buds of crocuses, daffodils and primroses. There’s a lot of yellow about. Pancake day has been and gone. Easter eggs are all over the shops. It’s far easier to instal fresh new habits now than in the depths of winter with its snuggly hibernation and dark nights challenging all attempts to energise and eat well and keep up that new exercise regime.
